In this article, we will see how to download and install IBM DB2 database on Windows step by step. We are going to install community edition on Windows server.
How to download and install IBM DB2 database on Windows
1. Go to google then search for IBM db2 download or copy either of below links and paste in web browser and hit enter.

2. Click on Download free community edition.
3. Then, signup with your information, after click on verify email, we will receive a code to our email. Then, we have to paste here.
4. Click on download beside Microsoft Windows.
5. Once download is completed, right click on the software and extract it.
6. Go to extracted folder, then double click setup.
7. On the DB2 setup wizard select install a product from the left menu. Then click install New.
8. Select the I accept … and click on Next.
9. Select Feature type and click on next.
10. Click on next.
11. If you want to change installation folder, click browse and change. Otherwise click on Next.
12. Provide the password for db2 user db2admin and select the check as hightlighted below.
13. Click on next with default instance name(DB2).
14. Click on next and next.
15. Click on Finish to start installation.
16. On the setup is complete wizard click on next.
17. Click on Finish.
18. If you want to create sample database, click on Create Sample Database. Then, select the drive.
Connect to IBM DB2 database server after installation
After installation, we have to connect to IBM DB2 server, by going to Start –> IBM DB2 Folder–> then select DB2 Command Window Administrator.
Then type db2 in the console as shown above.
To verify list of databases in IBM db2 execute below command.
list database directory
