How to download and install Oracle Linux on VirtualBox
1. Go to Oracle Linux official website.
2. Click on ISO file. I am going to download DVD.iso file. Below are definitions for different ISO file types. Read and download the ISO which suites for your requirement.
Full ISO: contains everything needed to boot a system and install Oracle Linux.
UEK Boot ISO: contains everything that is required to boot a system with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) and start an installation
Boot ISO: contains everything that is required to boot a system with Red Hat compatible kernel (RHCK) and start an installation
Source ISO: contains sources for the packages included in Full ISO.
3. Once download is completed open VirtualBox.
4. Click on New and provide the Name, Machine Folder Path, Type and Version as shown below and click on next.
5. Provide the memory size. Here I am providing 4GB.
6. Select the hard disk as Create a Virtual Hard disk now and click on Create.
7. Select Virtual Hard disk type and click on next
8. Select Storage type and click on Next.
9. Provide the file location and size and click on create.
10. Until now we have created Virtual Machine. But, we haven’t added(mounted the downloaded ISO file.
11. Click on settings. Then go to storage then control IDE from drop down as shown in below image click on Choose a disk file.
12. Select the downloaded ISO and file click ok.
13. Click on Start button to start the Oracle Linux installation on VirtualBox.
14. Now select the Install Oracle Linux 8.5.0 using up and down keys from your keyboard.
15. Select the language( I am going with defaults) and click on Continue.
16. We have to provide password for root account, select the installation destination, software selection. Once we perform the actions for red color items, then only Begin installation will be enabled.
After providing details, click on Begin Installation.
17. Installation is completed. Click on Reboot System
18. Now click on License Information and accept it. Then click
After providing required information click FINISH CONFIGURATION.
Login to Oracle Linux and check the Oracle Linux version on VirtualBox
1. Now click on username or not listed. and provide the password.
2. Click on Next.
3. Again click on next.
4. Click on Next and Click on skip for online accounts.
5. Now click on Start Using Oracle Linux Server.
