How to install Ubuntu 21.10 on VirtualBox step by step
1. Go to Ubuntu Official Website to download.
2. We have Ubuntu Desktop, Server, IOT and Cloud. In this article, we are going to download Ubuntu Desktop. Click on 20.04 LTS or 21.10.
If you want to install Ubuntu Server, click on Get Ubuntu Server
3. Wait until download completes.
4. If you have not installed VirtualBox, then go through the below and install it.
Install Ubuntu 21.10 on VirtualBox
1. After download completes, open VirtualBox and click on New to create virtual machine for Ubuntu 21.10 on VirtualBox.
2. Provide the name, machine folder path, type and version as shown below and click on next.
3. Then provide the memory size and click on next.
4. Then select Create a virtual disk now and click on create.
5. Then select Virtual Disk file type(VDI, VHD, VMDK).
6. Then, select the storage type either Dynamically allocated or fixed.
7. Select the File location and size of Virtual Hard Disk and click Create.
8. Now, we have to attach the downloaded ISO file. Click on settings–> storage–>Controller IDE –> Choose a disk file.. Then select the download ISO file.
9. Now, click on start button.
10. Use up and arrow keys from your keyboard and select Ubuntu and press enter.
11. Now, click on Install Ubuntu
12. Select the keyboard layout(English) and click on Continue.
13. Select the installation type Normal or Minimal. I am going with Normal.
14. Select Erase disk and click on install Ubuntu.
15. Click on Continue.
16. Select zone by clicking on map and click on continue.
17. Provide yourname, name for Ubuntu host, pick a new username, then provide the password for new user and click on continue.
18. Installation process takes time.
20. After installation, we have to restart Virtual Machine click on Restart Now.
21. Now click on username and provide the password to login into Ubuntu machine.
22. Click on skip to not to login online accounts.
23. Select No, dont send system info and click on Next.
24. If we want to enable location services, click on button. Otherwise click on Next again click on next. Then, click on done to complete setup.
